RULES AND REGULATIONS

Rotary Club of Coconut Grove Fishing Tournament
It is the responsibility of every participating angler to know, understand and abide by these tournament rules during this competition. Any participant who deliberately violates these rules will immediately be disqualified. Only registered competitors are eligible for points and any potential qualifying prizes. The safety of all anglers is their own responsibility and should be the first consideration in all aspects of this competition. All winners and participating anglers may be asked to take and pass a polygraph test at the tournament committee's discretion. If a participant refuses to submit to a polygraph test for any reason, they and any potential winnings will automatically be forfeited. Any intentional cheating, harassing of other anglers or any other conduct determined by the tournament staff to be outside the spirit of good sportsmanship will not be tolerated and is grounds for immediate disqualification and permanent ejection from the tournament.
EXTREME CAUTION AND CARESHOULD BE EXERCISED AT ALL TIMES
During any activity involved with this sport or related competition, the safety of the angler and all others is of the utmost importance and should take precedence over any attempt to catch, handle or release any wild animal including sharks. Kiwanis Club of Coral Gables and the Rotary Club of Coconut Grove Fishing Tournament, its officers, committee members, general members and/or assigns assume no responsibility for risk of injury or death that might occur as a result of attempting to capture, handle or release any wild animal, anywhere, under any circumstances.
Summary of Rules
The summary of the rules listed below are intended for all anglers as published:
1.) Entry fee is $150.00 USD per vessel ( for up to 4 anglers) or $50.00 USD per individual angler.
2.) The date of the tournament is Saturday, June 11, 2016. Fishing will start with lines in the water at 7:00 AM with all
lines removed at 3:00 PM. All boats must return to Grove Bay Grill (Coconut Grove) by 4:30 PM. The weighing of
catches will commence no later than 3:30 PM. The awards ceremony and bar-b-que will be held upon the arrival of
all boat participants but will commence no later than 5:00 PM.
3.) All participants must abide by Florida State Fishing Laws.
4.) All fish must be caught on rod and reel.
5.) Registration with full payment of entry fees must be made by 9:00 PM on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the Captain’s
meeting to be held that evening at 7:00pm at Duffy’s Tavern located at 2108 SW 57th Avenue, Miami, Florida.
6.) The geographic fishing boundaries of fishing tournament – Teams may not enter Bahamian waters.
7.) Anglers under the age of 18 must have a parent and/or legal guardian’s consent to enter the tournament, and their
parent and/or legal guardian are required to be present at the anglers meeting.
8.) Scoring will be based on greatest weight of individual Tuna and Dolphin with one award for each type of fish.
Any participant who deliberately violates these rules will immediately be disqualified. All disqualifications will result in being banned from all future Kiwanis Club of Coral Gables and Rotary Club of Coconut Grove's challenge events and the angler will forfeit any awards and will not have a refund of registration and tournament fees.
IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING THE HONOR SYSTEM
As with other organized sporting events and organizations, the integrity of the Kiwanis Club of Coral Gables and Rotary Club of Coconut Grove Tournament relies upon all participants' respect for sportsmanship, honesty and integrity when competing in this tournament or submitting claims. It is the tournament organizer's sincere intent to operate based on a confidence and trust that those virtues, at a minimum, will be held in high regard and exercised at all times by all participants and competitors.
The Captain’s Meeting:
The anglers meeting will be held at Duffy’s Tavern located at 2108 Southwest 57th Avenue, Miami on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 7:00 PM. The Captain’s meeting is mandatory. If you are a junior angler (under the age of 18), you must attend the meeting with your legal guardian. No angler can participate until they receive their tournament package. If special and/or reasonable circumstances prevent an angler from attending the anglers meeting, arrangements must be made in advance with tournament leaders, Richard Martin or Phil Everingham, in order to receive the required documentation. All registered participants are welcome to attend.
